Life according to ayurveda, is a combination of senses, mind, body and soul. According to Ayurvedic medicine, human body consists of three primary life forces or biological humors, which are Vata, Pita and Kapha. These three doshas are called the tridoshas. A balance among these life forces is essential for proper health. Any imbalance among the tridoshas causes a state of unhealthiness or disease. Ayurvedic system says that this imbalance is the effect of the constant reaction of the internal environment of body to the changes in external environment. It is only required that we bring back normalcy to the balance of these doshas, to bring back the state of healthiness. The concept is not just on curing bodily aliments but also on preventing. Ayurveda emphasizes that ‘prevention is better than cure. Today most of us live a high stress, fast food life style. Our environment creates excessive amount of pollutants, as the result, we accumulate large quantities of toxin in our bodies. If these toxins are left in the tissues and blood stream, these toxin begin to cause cellular deterioration, which can lead to degenerative diseases. Panchkarma is a detoxification and purification process of the body. It is design for each individual to eliminate these toxins through a combination of massage, herbal steam, some panchkarma procedures, special food, dietary patterns and mild fasting.
